Meet Marissa 

Marissa is the founder and proud “Head Cat” of Wool Cats LLC, a small but mighty handmade pet brand based in Las Vegas. Wool Cats specialize in wool cat toys, caves, and mats — all crafted with love, creativity, and a whole lot of lanolin.

Her story starts long before the 1st wool knot hits the floor.

Originally from Southwest Florida, Marissa began her career in radio. While earning her degree in Radio & Television Broadcasting in Tampa. She discovered her love for music, storytelling, and connecting with people. Nineteen years in radio sharpened her natural gift for communication — and her endlessly inquisitive personality meant she was always learning, listening and asking the next great question.

She planted her roots in Las Vegas and one day realized she wanted to build something of her own. Something fun. Something meaningful. Something good for the earth. Something handmade. Something everyone could enjoy.

Wool checked every box.

Her first product was wool dryer balls in 2019 — simple, sustainable, and surprisingly useful. But along the way, she discovered something magical: cats love wool even more than humans. The natural lanolin scent in sheep’s wool reminds them of the warmth and comfort of kittenhood. And at events, she noticed something else — pet products were overwhelmingly dog focused. Cat’s parents were hungry for something special, safe and unique for their own cats. 

The vision for Wool Cats was born!

Since 2022, she has spent years testing new designs, learning what cats truly love, and getting to know her customers’ needs. She travels the country as a vendor at CFA cat shows, local markets and community events of all kinds. 

Wool Cats Club is an exclusive club of wool loving cats.

Today, Wool Cats has an Etsy shop with hundreds of five-star reviews and a thriving social presence. But what matters most to Marissa is impact. She regularly donates toys and caves supporting rescues and shelters including Nevada SPCA, Animal Welfare & Rescue, Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Hearts Alive, and many more around the country.

As the Head Cat, Marissa believes every cat deserves the chance to experience the simple joy of a wool knot toy — her personal favorite. Thousands have been donated for cats.
